NEUROSCIENCES INDIA GROUP

Established in the new millenium, Neurosciences India Group is a virtual grouping of enthusiastic neuroscience professionals. Our's is a unique "Triple E mission" in the neurosciences arena. Through our courses, workshops, symposia and conferences we are continually striving to

- Empower through Education
- Enable Research Development
- Enhance Research Policy .

Neurosciences India Group began its activity in 2000 with an international workshop on epilepsy. Since then our annual February workshops have become a landmark event in the neurosciences calendar. Movement Disorders (2002), Dementia (2003) and Stroke (2004) were some important disorders covered in this way. From 2005 to 2007 we matured into Annual Courses in Clinical Neurosciences, addressing the transition between laboratory and clinic, in many important neuroscience disciplines. Along this pathway of progression, the nature and scope of our programs also increased. We now offer an average of six educational events per annum with an international starcast of neuroscience leaders from across the world serving as faculty resource persons. The programs we organise include problem and disease focussed symposia, research development workshops and training courses.

In the academic period 2007-2008 our activity has expanded further to include the development and enhancement of health policy for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders through consensus building. We chose epilepsy the most common serious neurological disorder, establishing together with the Indian Epilepsy Association a National Working Group on "Epilepsy and Disability". This working group has now met on two occasions and has been linked with the Neuropsychiatry Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy. A novel clinical and health policy paradigm "Disabling Epilepsy" has emerged from these workshops and will be the subject of an International Consensus Conclave in February 2008.
