The Indo-UK
Workshop on Epilepsy took off on an academic
note to deliberate on the transcultural
perspectives in epilepsy at Park Sheraton,
Chennai on September 1, 2000. The Chief
Guest of the inaugural function was Mr.
Gopal Srinivasan of the well known T S Srinivasan
Family, the chief sponsors of the workshop.
The T S Srinivasan Department of Clinical
Neurology and Research, Public Health Centre,
Chennai hosted the workshop for which over
200 delegates registered.
The workshop
was conducted under the aegis of the International
League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) Commission
of Developing Nations. The Chairman for
the workshop was Prof. Krishnamoorthy Srinivas
and the Chief Co-ordinator was Dr. E S Krishnamoorthy
from National Hospital, Queen Square, London
and a member of the Workshop Faculty.

to lectures on the Indian experience. While
the UK Professors discussed the Western
and World scenario of various aspect of
epilepsy, our Indian counterparts emphasised
the Indian perspective in subjects like
Neuroepidemiology, medical and surgical
management of epilepsy. The veteran Indian
Neurologist from Mumbai - Prof. N S Wadia
summed up the workshop with rare vision
as is his forte.
